annotating individual e-mails
Today I annotated a mail in gmail on chrome by accident. How great is that :) But unfortunately all the annotations from different mails get collected in one folder with the title "gmail". Is it technically possible to collect them under the single mails with the mail header, recipient and date on the title. Some will not be able to backlink if deleted, but that would be ok. This would lift research onto a whole new level, because one could now also collect the input from others via mail.

Let me understand the problem right:
I am not sure what you mean they are collected under a folder called "gmail" - that is not something we implemented so curious how that ends up there.
This is how it ends up in my Memex and when clicking on the notes it will then open the notes in the sidebar, all under just that email (i have annotations on other emails separately). What other information would you like to display?

I highlighted some different emails on gmail. All are on the same card.
If technically possible it would be much more useful, if I have for each email one card with the higlights which belong to them.
The title of the card could be as described above.
That would be much more useful. But perhaps it is not possible to distinct single mails from chrome :)

Mhh interesting!
Which gmail interface are you using?
This is mine for comparison.
When i click on an email in the gmail overview it will open in a new url that contains the email ID (that is why in my case my emails are individually annotated just as you want)

That is the solution. I usualy use the setting, that I see the marked emails right next to the mail window because that is faster to work.
Now if I change it to your settings everything works fine.
If I use my settings and just open the mails I want to annotate in a new window it also works (except backlinks).
So I just have to think if I want to use your gmail settings.
Thanks for the answer.
Have a great day.

There is probably a lot of merit in having it the way you have it and when you want to particularly annotate one then open it in a new tab sounds like a good in between solution. I can also see if I can get the email content better parsed in your mode.
When you say "except backlinks" what you mean with that?

I mean coming from memex back to the mail when clicking on it.
It is not a priority :) You have enough projects running already. :)

That is already working. As said we do identify the ID of the email. If I click on that result I showed you the screenshot of, it will go back there.

Yes it works with your gmail settings, but not when I open it with my settings in a new window.
But now I will try your settings and see if it works for me :)
Memex is amazing. :)

Ah gotcha! Just investigated that and should be fixable. I have a few minutes now so lets see how far I can get!

Ok unfortunately it is a bit harder than I thought to match back the email from this threaded view
