Highlighter tooltip appears despite being disabled
I've had the "Enable Highlighter Tooltip" checkbox disabled because I don't like it appearing every time I select text, and often it interferes with other tooltips.
However, time and again, I see it popping up despite having it disabled. Here's a video of that happening on Medium, but it has happened elsewhere, too:

Does this happen on every page reliably or just randomly sometimes?

It seems very random to me, i.e, I can refresh the same URL where it happended, and it dosen't happen anymore.

Ok, I personally could not reproduce it but I did find a very likely cause of the bug and fixed it.
It's now pushed into review and released with version 3.7.7.
If we're lucky it'll be out in 3-4h if not tomorrow morning.

Sadly yes, first test again on a random article on Medium (URL) immediately brought it up
I am on Brave (Version 1.58.137 Chromium: 117.0.5938.153 (Official Build) (arm64)) and made sure the extension got updated to 3.7.7

Yup 14.0 on Apple silicon.
I do have quite a bunch of other extensions and I'm blocking a lot of stuff using both Brave Shields and Adguard, however I won't have time (or patience :D) to test if any of these causes interferences, especially because there are endless possible combinations.

I have one observation that might be of interest: I can reproduce the issue quite often on Medium article views, not on index views. That's interesting because only Article views also have their own Medium tooltip implemented, index views don't.

And here's another observation: in the Slack web app I can bring up the memex tooltip reproducably, without it being enabled:
Open Slack web app
Highlight any message text
memex tooltip appears
Hard reload
memex tooltip does not appear
switch channel
memex tooltip appears again, also when switching back to the original channel
reload, repeat..

Ok I think I fixed it this time. At least I could clearly reproduce it on Slack, and then not anymore - whereas on Medium I still couldn't. Relying on your input again.
