We did already push another version of the desktop app, the problem was that the framework we use (electron) was not compatible with MacOS Sequoia.

Do you plan to pick up development again at some point? Memex is good, but so close to great! A few more features and it would really be far above the competition. It would be a shame to see it stagnate at this point.

Yes definitely. I love Memex and want to see it flourish and its part of my key tools.
The reality is that so far we didnt get it to the point of giving us enough financial freedom, so we are hoping to make the money we need to have more people work on Memex (including better “marketing”). So we are taking a bit of a slow down in the hopes of building a few smaller tools that can collectively support each other financially.
What are the things does Memex need to be great in your view?

I would love to have the ability to chat with AI context of my knowledge base. More tools in general to pull insights out of saved information and content. A “search companion” function to help find more quality sources about topics (crawl subpages of search results and suggest useful snippets or pages).

Also, if the project is not generating enough income for you I would be willing to pay a higher price for more features if you need to adjust your pricing.

It could be. I am unable to re-sync the extension, raised it with support, followed up twice and seemed uninterested to help with their sync pipeline, and they’re working on a “different project”.

youtuve wideo summarization seems broken for me ? the responses I get from claude 3 haiku are completely unrelated to the video I’m watching and very generic (this seems to be a new issue, happening since the last week or so — start of 2025)

In case anybody didn’t realize it, memex is open source. If the core development has ceased anybody can pick it up again if motivated
