Memex Desktop for backup does not shut down on Mac OS

I clicked "exit" on the tray icon, and when I go to force quit memex desktop does not appear, but when I go to applications and select the memex icon and "move to trash" I am met with the message, "Memex Desktop can't be moved to trash because it is open"

Applications that don't give me a way to uninstall them raise my blood pressure, please fix.
