the search engine widget is slow

I love the widget's existence but it only pops up a good few seconds after Google loaded it's results.
To search is such a frequent and intuitive operation, that having a few seconds delay makes me often forget the widget's existence since I already scrolled down. When I scroll up again, it's there and that's nice but would really prefer seeing the results before scrolling away or having to consciously pause.

    This is now available in the latest 3.12.8 version and its glorious.

    Loading speeds are amazingly fast now. Thanks for the bump to fix this up.
    Really a game changer.

    Fixed (&improved) and will go out with next release

    • Loading Speed:
      The widget itself loads now almost instantly and the search is executed in parallel with the UI loading.
      The UI also will have a loading state now to bridge that time in case the query response is a bit slower.
      Excited to see how that performs on my personal extension with lots more data in it.

    • Sticky Option

      You can now toggle if you want to have the results scroll with your or not

    • Added ability to customise search, so you can search your Memex directly with custom queries. Pre-fills the query with the current google search terms.

    Roadmap:

    Next up on the roadmap is a big improvement to the search, better filters etc.
    That search injection will then also improved. E.g. you will be able to also search your notes there.
